30 Days of Editing - Pieterpad
Van Pieterburen naar de Pietersberg - a north to south long distance walk of almost 500 km.
Starting june 22 2016 I walked the 26 tracks of the iconic dutch Pieterpad, almost 500 km from the northern village Pieterburen to the southern Pietersberg. More information on the Pieterpad : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieterpad
Yesterday, august 31 2017 I finished on the Pietersberg. Mission accomplished!
About 30 years ago I walked the first 3 stages with my husband. The first in new leather walking shoes ... blisters! I walked the last km barefooted :D. The second stage I was pregnant and we skipped the part that lead through the city as we lived there and thought we did not need to bother walking that part. The third stage we carried our baby in a back carrier which was harder than we thought for all 3 of us so we stopped half way. The last time we walked the other part of track 3 riding our toddler in a stroller but the strollers of that era were not equipped for sandpaths  And then life moved on and on and we never bothered trying again.
Last year I decided to try again solo as a personal challenge on different levels. Logistics, fitness, camera & lens. I choose to walk alone but accept rides to or from start and/or finish locations when public transport would be to much of a challenge. And on some days I combined driving by car myself with public transport. I also decided that speed and km were not the main goal, I wanted to experience the changing landscapes and architecture and enjoy the small stuff that would attract my attention. Walking solo is walking in my own pace, stopping and moving on when and how I feel like.
I choose to carry my lightest lens, the EF 50mm 1:1.4 on my Canon 60D to force myself to explore what this lens has to offer. My new GGS Fotospeed F4 Fox turned out to be the best buy ever. After trying 2 of my "normal" camerabags I decided to favour one of our daypacks with a patted camera divider.
This editing challenge will allow me to edit at least one photo a day but I hope to edit a spread a day for the album I intend to create as well. However, I might decide to tweak the images some more before I sent it to a print service.

on September 2, 2017Congrats on finishing the very long walk, that really is impressive! I really like the play of primary colors in this photo and how a little crop can make a big difference in highlighting the labels.

on September 2, 2017Wow, that's great that you finished the challenge you set up for yourself. 498 kilometers is very impressive! It sounds like it was fun too. I love trekking, especially abroad - Sweden is just woods, woods, woods everywhere, or well, at least where I live haha :).
I like the way you cropped this. It definitely brings out the best of the shot. Nice mood too. A great start to the challenge :). It makes me curious as to what you saw, and shot, on the paths.
Regarding your question about the Nik Collection. Yes you're right, I mainly work with the color filters, and that's what I used for the shot. I had to use a lot of different ones in stages to get the effect I wanted, and I also did some color tweaking with a hue/saturation adjustment layer.
